About lkSIG
The lkSIG is an annual fellowship programme organized by the Lanka School on Internet Governance (LKSIG). It is designed to strengthen understanding and engagement in Internet governance, a dynamic and often contested policy domain that brings together diverse technical, social, economic, and political perspectives.
Through lkSIG, participants are introduced to key Internet governance concepts, frameworks, and contemporary issues, while being encouraged to critically examine current developments and identify practical actions relevant to today’s Internet governance landscape.
The primary objective of lkSIG is to create an inclusive platform for individuals from diverse sectors and backgrounds to acquire the knowledge, skills, build capacities, and networks required to participate meaningfully in Internet governance processes. The programme aims to empower fellows to engage effectively at local, national, regional, and international levels, contributing to informed, inclusive, and sustainable Internet governance discourse.
The Lanka School on Internet Governance (LKSIG) is a registered School on Internet Governance (SIG) under the Dynamic Coalition on Schools of Internet Governance (DC-SIG).
lkSIG 2026
The Lanka School on Internet Governance (lkSIG) 2026 is designed as a truly multistakeholder initiative, built on strong partnerships and collaborative engagement across government, civil society, the technical community, academia, the private sector, and underrepresented groups.
The school will actively involve participants representing government institutions, civil society organizations, technical experts, academia, women and youth groups, marginalized and differently-abled communities, LGBTQIA+ community, development agencies, technopreneurs, policymakers, and students. This inclusive approach ensures that diverse perspectives are reflected in discussions and that no group is excluded from participating in the school.
Through this multistakeholder collaboration model, lkSIG 2026 aims to foster inclusive participation, build capacity on internet governance among Sri Lankan IG practitioners, strengthen national capacity on Internet governance, and build a sustainable community of stakeholders capable of contributing meaningfully to Internet governance.
The Lanka School on Internet Governance (lkSIG) 2026 will be conducted as a 2½ day in-person residential programme, scheduled for 27th to 29th March 2026 in Colombo. The lkSIG 2026 will be the first nationally organized School on Internet Governance (SIG) in Sri Lanka align with the APSIG protocols after the APSIG 2021 hosted in Sri Lanka.
